Travel Tips
One of the joys of camping is that you have the freedom to set up a base camp wherever you want, whether that’s wild camping, taking advantage of some of the gorgeous campsites around the UK with our Camping and Caravanning Club membership or wheel around as much as you like, utilising our luxurious and practical off grid camper.
Our aim is to provide all of your home comforts/needs and of course some luxuries so that wherever you go, you’ll have a safe and comfortable base, allowing you to feel confident that your holiday will be stress free and enjoyable.
We’ve put together some information and useful documents to help you plan and make the most of your trip
Useful tips
Before you go
It’s worth spending some time to properly research and plan your trip.
Plan and save your route – decide if you want to get there quickly or maybe take the longer scenic route.
Book campsites (if required) well in advance especially if travelling during peak season.
If you’re planning your trip on a budget check out overnight parking on Campercation or park4night (see below).
Have a look at the inventory so you know what’s provided and what you need to bring.
Pack mindfully, try not to over pack as space is limited.
Good music makes everything more enjoyable so prepare some playlists ready for your trip.
Adventure Time
Familiarise yourself with the van and its contents including the First Aid kit.
Regularly check and top up the water and empty the grey water tank and toilet.
If you are planning to go off grid, don’t forget to fully charge batteries and devices/powerchair.
Check that you have enough fuel.
Safety first! Ensure the gas is switched off when not in use and especially when on the road.
If you are going off grid let a family member or friend know.
If you have low battery or no reception in an emergency, consider updating your voicemail to inform anyone that calls of your situation/location.
Wild Camping
Wild camping is when you set up camp somewhere that is not on a campsite or caravan park. It’s a great way to connect with nature and truly immerse yourself in the great outdoors! Pitch Up has a good beginners guide to help you find out more.
Pub Parking
The majority of us love a pub and we tend to visit quite a few when we’re on holiday. There are a large number of pubs that will allow customers to park their camper van in the pub car park overnight. Use the search function on the UK Pub stopovers for motorhomes & campervans Facebook page to see where they are. It never hurts to ask a pub landlord/manager if you can park overnight.
park4night
park4night is an app that you can download on iPhone and Android devices that gives you information about places you can park up for the night.
Campercation
Campercation has been created to allow travellers to find alternative places to explore and resources that you may need on your travels including overnight stops, camping locations, wild camping spots, official campsites and service points.
The Campercation website has a function where you can create a personal travel route and view places that other people have found and posted, all free of charge.

Camping and Caravanning Club
Known as the “friendly club”, the Camping and Caravanning Club have over 2500 campsites across the UK for you to choose from so you will have no problem finding a place that ticks all of your boxes. The Club’s SiteSeeker, available as an online campsite search facility and also as an app allows you to search for campsites with accessible facilities.
